PRESIDENT – Patrick (Cherie) Cox
We have been traveling a lot; I am trying to catch up with myself. My replacement is going to be a good president and is going to do a wonderful job doing better than myself without as much help. You must remember that this is not about you, it’s about square dancing. The Promotion, Continuation, and Betterment of square dancing. When you give your time that is an honor to you and the group and we thank you for that. I hope I had some influence on square dancing.

I’m proud to say that Summer Festival 2025 made a total profit of $1,709.28. We have the reimbursement check of $3,000 and 50% of the profits that equals $854.64. A check to the Federation and Rogue Sis Q Council for the profits. Thank you everyone who brought baskets for the raffles. The money board Karyn recommended brought in a substantial amount. Please go back to your councils and clubs and tell them thank you. I thank my committee, I could have not done this without my committee that worked hard to make this event happen.
2026 MID-WINTER FESTIVAL - Karyn (Matthew) Buchheit

We are up to about 850 subscribers.
2ND VICE PRESIDENT - Julia Buchheit

TREASURER - Marilyn (Ron) Schmit
I have paid the background checks for the 2027 Mid-Winter entertainment and filed the form 990N to finish the fiscal year. I have filled out the form to notify the IRS 1 Division to show the change in officers and registered agent. Patrick Cox still needs to go to the bank to update the accounts.
Lane and I met on September 9, to get his name on the accounts at Oregon State Credit Union where the Key Bank CD’s were moved to at a much better rate of interest. They both will renew in February.
MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN – Susan Harrel
All membership dues have been paid for 2025-26 year.
INSURANCE CHAIRMAN – Vicki Pounds
I am working with online reports with TVC and Rogue Sis Q Council for insurance with these 2 councils. I’ve converted PDF rosters to Word so they can be manipulated. This is a trial to see how this process will go for next year. I am hoping to expand this process to all councils next year.
PAST PRESIDENT – Karyn (Matthew) Buchheit
Randall Award
We received 2 nominations for the Randall Award: Lane & Marie Clem and Rick Hawes. Packets with their information and voting form are in each of the delegates file in the secretary box – please make sure that you pick it up if you haven’t already done so. Instructions are in the packets. Delegates will need to have their vote into Patrick Cox by November 30th.
Grant Fund Committee
We have received requests for the following:
1. Grant request from Shaun McKamey for assistance with attending “Top of The Pines Caller School” September 7-12, 2025, in Alta, California. The cost were tuition of $450.00 plus lodging, meals and travel. Grant committee recommends giving Shaun a grant of $500.00.
Motion: Karyn Buchheit moved to award Shaun $500 grant for attending Top of The Pines Caller School, This would be a reimbursement grant. Betty Chipps second the motion. Patrick Cox reports he was at this caller school and Shaun did a great job. I support giving him the grant, it’s money well spent. Motion carried unanimously.
2. Bachelors & Bachelorettes requested a grant for assistance with advertising for lessons. They are doing 3 targeted mailings within a 1.5 mile radius of Abernathy Grange. The cost for them to do this is $498.96 they combined with River City Dancers so their cost was split. They have received a grant from PAC in the amount of $200.00. Grant committee recommends giving B&B’s a grant of $298.96.
Motion: Karyn Buchheit moved to give BnB’s a grant for $298.96. Brooke Davison seconded the motion. Betty Chipps explained the process of this advertisement for square dance. They hired Express Copy to do the mailing advertising. They send out large cards in 3 separate mailings; you pay for the targeted mailings requested. The advertisement card is sent in the mail by the advertising company; multiple organizations joined for this advertising. The company discusses the target audience, costs, and options for the mailer being sent in 3 mailings. They had a member within PAC that assisted with the mailing process through Express Copy. Each post card was personalized with individual names. Motion carried unanimously.
3. Chaps and Petticoats request assistance with advertising for lessons. They are doing 3 targeted mailings where 472 households will receive the 'mailer' along the I-5 corridor between the Wilsonville to Woodburn (area), specifically six cities: Wilsonville, Canby, Aurora, Hubbard, Molalla and Woodburn. We targeted families (ages 45-60) with children ages 12-17 (but no adult children in the household). The cost for them to do this is $997.71, they have received assistance from PAC in the amount of $200.00 and from Maplewood Grange in the amount of $100.00. They are asking for a grant of $500.00. Grant committee recommends giving Chaps & Petticoats $500.00.
Motion: Karyn Buchheit moved to give a grant for $500 to the Chaps and Petticoats for “mailer” advertising along the I-5 corridor. Brooke Davison second the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
PARLIAMENTARIAN - Tim (Kathy) Roberts
Anyone that would like a copy of the P&Ps, it is on the thumb drives that Kathy distributed yesterday.
EDUCATION/PUBLICITY - Kathy (Tim) Roberts
Our annual Training Sessions for Delegates and Officers was yesterday. Thank you to everyone who attended. Thank you Joyce Welton, Patrick Cox, Tim Roberts, Vicki Pounds, Karyn Buchheit, and Lorri McIntosh for your contributions. I felt we had a good sessions with many questions and answers. Most of the Board was in attendance. I distributed thumb drives to all of the attendees. The thumb drives included all of the seminars that I’ve taught this year (2 different Social Media seminars, flyers, and Training Guide); the OFSRDC’s P&Ps, all of the P&P forms that are used through the year (Nomination Form, Randall Award, Accident Report, Expense Form and supplemental material that I created (Thinking Outside of the Box, How to update the OFN flyers, How to update the Federation Webpage, How to Create Flyers, How to Save Word files as .PDFs or JPGs) and information from other sources (USDA publications and ECMA from Callerlab).
I updated my spreadsheet showing all of the lessons that are being held by OFSRDC Clubs. I posted it on Facebook where it has been shared several times. I also sent a copy of it to Marilyn who made copies for the State Fair. Thank you Marilyn.
I continue to monitor the Federation Facebook’s page. I update my various dance lists, post flyers for clubs who have requested assistance, share flyers to the Federation Facebook page that appear on my own timeline, remove spammers and post that do not follow our rules.
During 2026 Mid-Winter, Lorri McIntosh will be presenting “What happens if there is an emergency during a dance”. We all know that injuries can happen with choking, falling, going down stair, etc. Lorri is going to present information on how to handle a situation if someone were to have a heart attack or a stroke or gets injured. She is going to try to bring an AED to show how to use it. Lorri is a registered nurse that teaches nursing at Rogue Community College. She is qualified to train people for emergency situations. Vicki Pounds, our Insurance Coordinator will also talk about how to handle reporting incidents to our USDA insurance company.
Cece Glidewell commented: Make sure the person does not have a pacemaker when using an AED. Zola Jones mentioned they had person at Mid-Winter that fell and was moved before responders arrived, causing additional injuries. Lorri McIntosh: That is what started my mission to prevent injuries at a dance. I provided an educational seminar during this year’s National Convention and will be presenting this information again during the National Convention next year. Encourage a representative from each club to attend this important seminar.
HISTORIAN - Marilyn (Ron) Schmit
I have been busy shredding old accounting records that were done by hand on old ledger sheets with dates in the late 60’s. I went through old Treasurer records and shredded anything dated August 2018 and before. Much less to turn over to Lane at the turnover meeting. I cleaned out a container that was given to me by the Membership Chair and shredded everything in it but the file folders. It has been given back to her to reuse. I still have some Insurance history to look through to see if any of it is ready to be shredded.

CALLER LIAISON - Terry Halley (Betty Chipps)
Update from Callerlab, it’s still being discussed. It is supposed to go into effect a year from now.
WEBMASTER - Tim (Kathy) Roberts
I have implemented a simple file sharing scheme. I need to contact the people who need it and have them give it a test drive: Lorri McIntosh, Brooke Davison and Karyn Buchheit.
STATE FAIR - Marilyn (Ron) Schmit
No cuer volunteered to cue on Thursday of State Fair week so it was changed to a second mainstream event. Got a caller almost immediately and worked on getting dancers. Karyn sent me a list of 124 dancers/parents for the youth day. I had 25 dancers on Tuesday with George Hermann calling, 19 dancers on Thursday with Mike Kious calling; and 24 on Saturday with KC Curtis calling. Thank you cards have been written for the callers and to Cascade Sound for their assistance in getting the callers all set up with their equipment. There were 15 who got tickets that were non dancing spouses, non-dancing other family and eight who got tickets but did not show up. The youth did not show up in numbers as in previous years. Hopefully, that will improve next year. I have names signed up for next year already. The tentative dates are September 1, 3, 5, since Labor Day is September 7, 2026. A report has been sent to my fair contacts with how things went, and I have an envelope with extra tickets to return to the fair office.
Pictures of the dancing and the group photos were placed on Facebook with many being viewed afterwards.
Tuesday, we had 25 dancers with George Hermann, Wednesday we had 19 dancers with Mike Kious, and 24 dancers on Saturday with KC Curtis calling. Thank you cards have been sent out to the callers.
USDA LIAISON - Marilyn (Ron) Schmit
There has been no activity since the July report.
Sometime in November I will be sending out the request for officer and committee reports for the January meeting in Somerset, KY. Once all of them are received, they will be assembled and sent out via email to everyone.
We will meet up in Somerset on January 22, to start meeting on January 23, at 9 am. (Yes, that is the same time as Mid-Winter, so I will be absent from Albany for the first time in many years.) I will fly home on January 25, to begin the process of listening to the recorder to make sense of the recordings for minutes to get out within three weeks.
The winter meeting coincides with the General Butler Bash, a plus and advanced weekend of dancing.
BACKGROUND CHECK - Tim (Kathy) Roberts
We are caught up through Mid-Winter 2027.
DELEGATE MEETING – Brooke Davison
We discussed new business topics. We also discussed the targeted area postcards and how they are being used. We also talked about credit cards, Zelle, out of state caller promotion, the Next Door App, and history of the festivals.
Motion: Lorri McIntosh, I move we donate $1,000 to the Youth Scholarship fund at USDA, Cece Glidewell secondedd the motion.
Kathy Roberts: we have funds that can be given from the State license plates money that Patrick Cox can use for the donation. These funds have not been used for 3-4 years. Patrick Cox requested to lump the entire sum together and donate the license plate funds to USDA Youth fund. Zola Jones repeated the motion asking if the donation was for $1,000, if we use what is in the state license plate fund would we make the rest up through the general fund? The answer was yes.
Motion passed with one abstention.
a. President Joyce Welton and her board were installed as the 2025-2026 OFSRDC Officers by Robert Swee, Central Oregon Delegate
b. Joyce’s special guests were Dan Dugan a musician with a special song he wrote for Joyce, Claudia Duggan, Don Forbes, Tom Klug President of the Red Rocks and Ed Barris from the Red Rocks.
I stopped at Bowtie Coffee on Lancaster, the lady asked what I was doing, I’m going square dancing. Dave got her contact information and gave it to Brooke Davison. Go out and talk to people. Sometimes you have to put yourself out there. They might laugh – but that’s ok.
Motion: Dave Cooper I move that the Federation sponsor a new dancers’ jamboree on March 29th, 2026, at the Buckaroo Barn in Roseburg and authorize up to $500 for expenses. Doris Koozer second the motion. Dave discussed the importance of new dancers and the Federation officers and delegates, and getting these groups together. He stated that no one in his area has any idea who we, the Federation are. They don’t know what we do as a group to help them. He wants all of the officers and delegates to come to the jamboree and wear our badges. Talk to the people and let them know what you do. He pursued this idea and he has the hall rent free, callers and cuers donating their time, and food will be donated. He picked the date and time as it’s the 5th Sunday of a month. Brooke Davison: if the Federation sponsors and provides money, we will need to pay licensing fees. If we do not sponsor the event we will not need to pay as licensing fees. Laura from TVC, can you work around these rules by giving a grant? Brooke: I’ll have to research that with a grant in mind. Kathy Roberts: we just awarded a grant to support square dancing, Dave could request a grant to promote the dance. Dave: we didn’t come asking for money, we came to request your support of the new dancers in Oregon. It’s not about the money. Lorri: is there any reason we could not afford to pay the fees for this dance. Discussion about the funds and sponsoring the dance. Brooke: licensing fees are a grey area in certain events, if we are providing money for an event that would determine if the licensing fees to be owed. The question is do we need to provide a grant or just promote? Lorri McIntosh – we can pay the licensing fee, it won’t break the bank. Kathy Roberts - if the Federation sponsors and doesn’t give money, isn’t it still a potential problem? We can support a council dance. Brooke – it has to do with why we are congregating. So it gets a little grey. I am not an expert, it appears if we are providing money directly, then it becomes a Federation event. Kathy – in your interpretation if money is provided directly to the event, then it become a state event? If we provide a grant to a council, that is different? Dave does not want to change his motion at this time, I will wait until Mid-Winter to continue to discuss it. Dave would like everyone to commit to supporting the jamboree. We’ll work out details later. Brooke – shall I research it further. Joyce – yes.
Motion: Cece Glidewell moved to postpone the motion to Mid-Winter, Zola Jones second the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion: Lorri McIntosh motioned that we sell the speakers for the best offer. Cece Glidewell second the motion.
Motion passed unanimously.
Patrick was informed the speakers could be bought for $50 for both speakers.
BLUE MOUNTAINS COUNCIL - David (Sally) Stutzman
I am not in attendance today due to recovery from hip replacement surgery last month.
The Muddy Frogs held an open house last month. Several members were in attendance and got to refresh their dance skills. The club has contacted several callers from Tri-Cities area about calling dances and possibly to teach lessons this Fall.
CENTRAL OREGON COUNCIL – Robert Swee
High Desert Dancers, Red Rocks and Sagebrush Shufflers worked together to put on a
very successful Central Oregon Round Up the second weekend in August. There were
11 squares on the floor both Friday and Saturday night. Thanks to all that attended;
there were a total of 27 clubs represented at the dance.
High Desert Dancers held a community dance on August 16. It was very successful with 22 guests. Eleven of the guests were brought in by dancers. We’ve decided we are going to enter the 21st century. We are going to start using Zelle. There is no charge for using Zelle. We are working on it and are trying to have it ready to go by November. It is easy to use. We don’t need to use a scanner. You go to your own bank and use a code to send your funds.
Red Rocks Red Rocks has 2 upcoming food drives in September. Donation to the food drive will be the admission for the dances. Hoping to help fill some shelves at the local food banks. The club had a successful booth at the local Music on the Green event in Redmond. Received phone numbers and emails from persons interested in square dancing. Will follow up when classes start up.
Sagebrush Shufflers The Sagebrush Shufflers had a float in the local July 4th parade. With participants from the local clubs, it was agreed the parade was an excellent square dance activity. The club is also looking to have a booth at the Moonfest Festival in Prineville in October.
Sundown Ridge Riders The Ridge Riders have been dark for the summer but are looking to start up lessons in early October. Rhythm is yet to be decided.
EMERALD EMPIRE AREA - Zola Jones
Thank you to the council, clubs and youth for the food and dance yesterday.
All of our area clubs are back to dancing on their regular days; with the exception of Misty Valley Cloggers.
The special 3-day dance weekend in August, hosted by 4 clubs in our Area; "Life's a Dance Festival" at the Emerald Square Dance Center, was a great success! We had over 12 squares attending; from Portland, Salem, Albany, Sweet Home, Roseburg and Grants Pass. We even had someone come from Olympia in their motorhome. We appreciate everyone who came, and they all had such a good time dancing to really special and 'fun' featured Caller and Cuer.
New Dancer Lessons have just started in our Area; and are on Tuesday's, 7:00 p.m., at the Emerald Square Dance Center in Springfield. Contact numbers are: Nancy 541-852-2241 or Christine 541-343-7323.
Our next Area Council Meeting is Monday, September 15, where I will be handing out the new State Directories and Liability Insurance 'packets' to all our clubs.
INTERSTATE HIGHLANDERS - Cece (Sarge) Glidewell
The club caller and cuer, Cece and Sarge Glidewell, attended several festivals over the summer. The Klamath Country Squares started Fall 2025 lessons September 2 for rounds and September 4 for Squares at the Knights of Columbus building. This 13- week session will end in November. There may be some dancing at the Glidewell’s over the Winter break. They’ll be back at the Knights of Columbus in the Spring for another SSD session.
The council will look at bringing back 5th Saturday dances if or when the club is functioning with enough dancers to support the expense of council dances.
After Mid-WInter the next meeting will be in Klamath Falls on the 3rd weekend in April. I will be bringing packets to all delegates and officers. I want to see everyone there and support us. We do not feel the support from the federation. If you can’t come, please get a replacement.
MID-WILLAMETTE AREA COUNCIL - Brooke Davison
It is a pleasure to host this September meeting! Welcome to Mid-Willamette Area! Thank you to the Silver City Squares and Salem Swingin Stars youth for putting on great dance last night and getting the hall ready for yesterday's and today's meetings.
Mid-Willamette Area is hard at work with planning our yearly Fall Festival, this year it will be held on November 29, right here at the Salem Square Dance Center, with Timber Twirlers hosting.
Most of our clubs are beginning lessons this month. With that comes planning for New Dancer Dances. MWA Clubs are engaged in strategically planning club New Dancer Dances so that we can support one another. We will again offer the Ambassador badges this year, where new dancers who attend each of the new dancer dances in the area will receive an MWA Ambassador badge. We are also considering a similar program to encourage attendance at birthday/anniversary dances. MWA Clubs are also making concerted efforts to visit one another to boost dances throughout the year. That effort has also brought up Banner Stealing. MWA has previously provided guidance and recently updated that guidance to support our clubs with simple, easy to follow suggested guidelines for banner stealing and retrieving. MWA Clubs are working to bring the fun back to our dances.
Each club brought in $500 from the dance last night with donations, dinner and dance.
PORTLAND AREA COUNCIL - Betty Chipps (Terry Halley)
PAC Report: PAC’s next business meeting is October 20th at the Oak Grove Community Club, 7:30pm.
Jeff Knapp, PAC’s President, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2026.
Please let us know of anyone interested in being the next PAC President - there is plenty time to train, nomination deadline is February 16, 2026, and new officers assume responsibilities in June 2026.
PAC had these questions and/or concerns at their AUG 18th Council meeting:
○ Oregon State Fair 2025 demonstrations: Do they advertise to garner new interest?
○ Who are the organizers / promoters of State Fair dances?
○ Why no Round Dances at this year’s AUG 2025 State Fair?
○ The September OFN reported: There is currently no Summer Festival scheduled for 2026.
This was unexpected news considering:- OFSRDC’s P&P’s state the OFSRDC should organize the Summer Festival if no clubs volunteer to host.
○ Does Summer Festival have a Chair and Co-Chair (who heads the next year’s Summer Festival)?

ROGUE SIS-Q – Rikki Lobato
Classes have started and clubs are looking forward to a successful session of classes.
The next council dance is Friday, October 31 with Chuck Simpkins and Elaine Funk. The dance is in Medford and there should be a fun variety of costumes!
Charlie Brown Squares The first SSD class on 9/4 welcomed 6 new students and a total of 2 squares. It was hot so hopefully the 9/11 class will be better attended. Our community dance on 9/6 was lots of fun with J Domis and Sarge Glidewell. Over 60 dancers - 7 squares of all ages enjoyed a very energetic evening! We will start a Mainstream and Plus class on 9/9 and hopefully we can have a nice turnout.
Our next dance is 9/20 and will be a potluck and dance. We are dark on 10/4 to support Country Fever Weekend with Jim Steele, Adam Christman and Rikki Lobato. This should be a lot of fun! We will finish the year with dances every 1st and 3rd Saturday; with our 58th birthday dance being held on 12/6. The always energetic Andy Allemao will be calling and Rikki is cueing.
Our 2026 Boatnik Festival is set to be another fantastic event. Hunter Keller and MaryAnn Callahan are the featured staff and make a great duo. Plan to spend Memorial Weekend in Grants Pass dancing, laughing, taking in the jet boat races and carnival as well as a jet boat ride with the square dance group. Flyers are now available.
We had 11 dancers at lessons this last week.
We would love to see you in Southern Oregon.
Circle N Square Sherrie is recovering nicely from her hip surgery, and the club has been visiting and dancing during the summer. Dean & Sherrie worked at the booth at the county fair, which is a fundraiser to help put on classes. New classes will start on September 17th at 6pm at the Karuk Wellness Center in Yreka. The club is hoping for a good turnout of dancers as they have been doing demos and community dances throughout the summer.
Star Promenaders Classes began on 9/8/25 with the hope that there will be a good turnout of new dancers. Mainstream to Plus classes begin on 9/11. Diamond Lake Festival was a lot of fun with David & Dawn Mee. 2026 will welcome Ray Brendzy as the featured caller and Randy (Marie) Preskitt as featured cuers. It should be a wonderful time. We dance on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. The club hosted an Alzheimer's Benefit Dance and with the help of the dancers and several callers and cuers donating their time - $3,000 was raised for the Association. What a great cause!
We will once again host a New Years Eve Dance; with Phil Ramey & Elaine Funk helping to ring in the new year.
We hope everyone has success with their new classes. We had 15 new dancers at last week’s lessons.

Beachcombers youth member Courtney Phillips received the $500.00 Oregon Federation Scholarship this Summer. Courtney will be attending Southwestern Oregon Community College for the next 2 years. New dancer Skylla Larson joined 2000 high school students nationwide representing Oregon at the prestigious Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Washington Youth Tour in June. Skylla toured Washington D C extensively during the visit while meeting Oregon politicians and taking part in leadership training. We are proud of both these young women.
Back on the home front, the Beachcombers hosted a large group of dancers from three states for our 25th annual Battle Rock Festival held on Labor Day Weekend. With over 100 dancers, the floor was full and the excitement was high. All enjoyed the kick off BBQ, surf dance with 7 squares, golf putting contest, soup & sandwich buffet, pancake breakfast as well as, oh yeah, square, round and line dancing. Big thanks go to Terry Halley, Phil Ramey, Del Morton, Dave Cooper and Cathy Houston for calling and cueing a great event. We missed Renee Ruud who decided to break her leg a week before, but we will see her next year.
Mavericks Two Step class continues through September.

Can we discuss which credit card systems the square dance clubs have utilized for their clubs? Which one did they choose and what were the reasons?
Does the state have a “stance” on the new mainstream/plus class organization?
Do we know the price of the state directories?
One of our members asks the following (my paraphrase.)... When a local club doesn’t step up to host the summer festival, isn’t it the state’s duty to host it? Should this not have been done a couple of years back, not just recently? Their understanding is that the summer festival planning should always be three year in advance.
How do callers from out of state advertise their availability to Oregon? This caller is a hall of fame caller from Texas who was curious about the procedure to get in the loop.
TVC upcoming dances:
November 29 – New Dancer Jamboree, Kinton Grange. Scott Zinser, Lane Clem
December 31 – New Year’s Eve Dance, Hillsboro IOOF Hall. Darrell, Tami
TVC Newly elected Officers:
Sally Duyck, President
Judy Schnase, Vice President
Andis Garuts, Secretary
Bonni Lesser, Treasurer
In response to the question about credit cards, Terry Halley indicated that the Tri-Squares are accepting credit cards now. Joyce Welton indicated that Central Oregon has been researching them. They found that Zelle was the only one that didn’t charge. Brooke – who did the research? Joyce – Bill Randall.
UMPQUA AREA COUNCIL – Doris Koozer
Activity at the Buckeroo is about to pick up. On September 6th we are going to have a Community Open House with dancing for everyone. Carl Ballou, who specializes in events with untrained dancers, has spearheaded the project. We will have square and round dancing, line dancing & folk dancing for the inexperienced dancer. On the following day, the Buckeroos will have their first square dance class at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon with Don Marshall. This will be the fourth year that we have used Sunday afternoon for lessons, and it has proven to be a good day for lessons. They begin with lessons for the beginners and finish the afternoon with plus dancing for the angels.
The Dancing Friends will begin their lessons during the following week. Rod Skinner will be teaching phase 4 Waltz on Tuesday evenings, and Neil Koozer will be teaching Jive on Thursday. Each class will have an hour of instruction of the focus rhythm, and an hour of dancing rhythms that the dancers have already learned in previous lessons. The focus will be different for each evening.
The Buckeroos will continue dancing on the first and third Saturdays of the month, doing joint dances with the Timber 8’s for Christmas and their Birthday dance.
The Timber 8’s will revert back to using the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, but they will probably have no more than one dance per month. November 11th we have a couple floats for the parade.

My summer has been busy attending various festivals (ie, Diamond Lake and Central Oregon Roundup) and cueing some dance weekends in Bend. I cued the fun “Life's A Dance Festival” with my friend Hunter Keller and it was a great turnout! Rob and I workshopped the Hustle and taught a couple of dances. Lots of fun!
I am looking forward to my round dance classes starting back up on Monday, September 15th.
I was honored to have my Two Step, It Feels Good, Good, Good chosen as Oregon Round of the Month; as well as most recently having a dance Somethin' 'Bout A Woman chosen as 2nd Runner-up for ROQ (4th Quarter). My Cha Giddy Up was chosen as Round of the Quarter for 3rd Quarter - my first one! Very exciting!
Coming up over the next few months - I am looking forward to cueing Country Fever with Adam Christman and Jim Steele; cueing in Bend and doing another round dance workshop, attending Potato Festival, Harvest Hoedown(Yuba City, CA), Royal Romp and November Magic (Plymouth, CA). In December, I will be cueing the Charlie Brown Squares birthday dance with the fun Andy Allemao.
Looking forward to a great rest of the year promoting various events happening in Oregon and enjoying lots of dances in a variety of places - whether I am dancing or cueing I try to promote and represent our State. If you have anything specific you would like me to take on my travels, feel free to give me some flyers or just send me an email and I will add to my list. Happy Dancing!

No report received.
Brooke Davison: I am curious if a new Goodwill Ambassador was appointed? Tim Roberts – Pat invited Rikki to renew her term.
Robert Swee: when I was at USAWest, people that I know on their policy board mentioned that there are no Oregon representatives on their board. They would like to have someone from Oregon. I don’t think we need to have anyone appointed by the Federation just someone to represent Oregon. Lorri McIntosh asked about the requirements. Robert will research and email the information to anyone interested. The USAWest Convention is held on the west coast when the National Convention is held in the east. There are 13 states (including Hawaii and Alaska) involved in the USAWest Convention. Kathy Roberts: Kay Rogers was on the policy board for years and Kay, Tim and I were co-chairs for the 3 USAWest Conventions that were held in Oregon and Washington. USAWest is held in August, the National Convention is held in June. They are separate organizations. Years ago, USAWest approached the OFSRDC to be involved, the board decided not to at that time. A couple years later, Kay Rogers approached the USAWest Policy Board and represented Oregon as an individual. Kay gave the OFSRDC reports from the USAWest meetings. There has not been representation since Kay resigned.
Marilyn: there is $884.86 in the Oregon state car licensing account, this will go to the USDA youth grants fund. The $115.14 difference will come from the General Fund for a total of $1,000.
Julia Buchheit: Tim do you want to be reimbursed for the new speakers? Tim – I’ll have to look up the cost. Patrick – are new speakers we just bought successful? Tim Roberts: Yes, we have one bad wireless mike. Dave Cooper: does everyone in the back tell us how the sound is back there. Patti Cooper has no problem hearing the meeting.
ADJOURN: Motion: Brooke moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:35 am, Robert Swee seconded the motion. Motion carried.
