Each year, the Oregon Federation of Square and Round Dance Clubs looks for some striking or appropriate image for the front of its annual directory. This year, Oregon watercolor artist and square dance caller Lane Clem painted an original piece of art for us, titled "46 Ford Woody Van". He has offered the original watercolor to the Federation, to be auctioned off, to benefit the Federation's Youth Education Scholarship fund.

This painting of a class 1946 Ford "Woody" station wagon is 21" x 14", painted on 140 lb French Arches cold-press watercolor paper, mounted on quarter-inch foam core, matted, framed, and ready to hang.

The auction bidding will be open through October 17.

The high bid as of 2020-10-12 06:48:41 is:

My work has also been displayed in the Justice Center building in downtown Portland and in the Beaverton City Hall. I have had private showings of my work in the Oak Hills Community Center. My work is also displayed on the Village Gallery of Arts website, www.villagegalleryarts.org, click on "Artists", then "Artists A to F."

Marie and I have been square dancing since we both retired in 2008. I attended Daryl Clendenin's Caller School three years ago and studied cuing with Ken Pratt for a few months before his death. I am the caller/cuer for the Oak Hills Squares, a new club organized a year and a half ago in the Oak Hills Recreation Center Gym.
